Tokyo

I recently had the opportunity to visit Tokyo, Japan during peak cherry blossom season.  Tokyo is an amazing city full of wonderful people and beautiful architecture.  As a major city with a large population, Tokyo is very crowded.  However, it's citizens and visitors like me have access to some amazing public spaces.  There are numerous beautiful parks and gardens, where you can easily forget that you are in the center of a major City.

One thing that stands out in my mind was visiting the Tokyo National Museum.   The Museum has more historically significant pieces than it could possibly ever show in its limited space.  However, it has one room dedicated to a single piece of art.  The art is not permanently installed in this room, rather various selected works are chosen and displayed one at a time.  In this way, the museum allows the patron to observe and study a single work of art without distractions from the other great works surrounding it.  I find this approach refreshing.
